After effects

After more and more unnecessary police killings of black men and women were exposed by traumatic video documentation in 2014, the lack of adequate data on the issue became clear. Apparently, no one, not the Federal government, state governments or local police forces, were keeping up with and collecting data on police violence. The Guardian and the Post, along with a number of more grass-roots efforts, took this problem on - compiling crowd sourced information and local news reporting - along with a number of more grassroots data collection efforts. Those killed at the hands of police in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 have been counted.
